Entry#1 MY LAST SEMESTER!

Its the first week of our last semester, I can’t believe its already one more semester and we’re done with high school! crazy, But anyways, Monday there wasn’t school because it was Martin Luther King Day so we had regular schedule the whole week. Tuesday we went to Advisory first to get our new schedules and that day we had our seats changed and the seats were rearranged, don’t like it all that much. We went to the computer lab that day to make an account for goodreads.com and its basically a site where you choose books you have read and can be friends with others and recommend books to them or find what books you might be interested in. Its pretty cool because you can also be friends with authors. Wednesday we did the same thing but this time got to check out any of the books that we wanted to read in our GoodReads. I chose to check out Speak because I thought it was interesting when Jelly gave her book talk. Thursday we started on what are Themes. We watched old cartoon clips and tried to figure out the theme of it. I got it right away and on Friday we continued with Themes and had to do the agree or disagree activity, we had to discuss each question.

Entry #18

This was the week that we came back to school from break. I wasn’t looking forward to it at all! On monday we turned in our essays and went over the things we had to do for our presentations. Ms. Traverso gave us worksheets and we had to score her on how well she did with her book report. She presented her book and she did well, she basically showed us how to do it step by step but she didn’t have a poster. [ be prepared ms. traverso! (= ] On Wednesday we brought our posters in to work on it and everyone was just working on there book report. We had to fill out the worksheet on the back to prepare us for the next day. We had to be ready by thursday! I basically did everything in one day but it was pretty easy. On thursday we had presentations and people had to volunteer while Ms. Traverso scored them. People read some interesting books. I didn’t get to go thursday but I went the next day. Friday I finally presented and I think I did pretty well because I answered all the questions that were on the paper and I didn’t do so bad on my poster.

Entry #17 Happy Holidays!

Winter break is over? today is the last day of winter break and to tell you the truth I kind of miss school haha. I mean I was basically out for 3 weeks almost a month including the time I got suspended so I feel like I haven’t been to school in so long. But I’m just not ready for all the work. Hopefully I can catch on with all my work though. Anyways my winter break I was out everyday doing who knows what, I mean it was really nothing but going shopping like crazy after christmas. I celebrated Christmas in Vallejo with my family over there. All I got was money this year but I didn’t mind. I think I’d rather give than receive though, its the best part because I feel good when I give others gifts =) On New years we had it at my house with my sister and all her friends. It was pretty fun, I really can’t believe its 2010 already. I bet everyone has their resolutions that they’re not going to even stick to, hopefully I can stick to mine! I’m just ready to graduate this year and go to college already. Wonder what 2010 has in store for me…

Stretchmark #3 LA Universal Studios

I went to LA Universal Studios for the first time! I was excited and we took the plane out there. There was about 14 of us and we were all in seperate seats split because there was too many of us. Everyone was there already but Josh and I took the flight the next day at 6am. We had first class and everything and we got to LA pretty quick. I slept the whole time! When we got to LA we already went straight to Universal Studios because we were only going to stay until the next day. When we first got there we took a picture next to the sign Universal Studios. It was packed when we walked in because we got there when it first opened. There wasn’t much rides that we rode but the Simpson ride because a lot of them were closed for some reason. We bought a lot of things and took a lot of pictures. It was pretty cool, but wish we could of rode on more rollercoasters. Overall I had fun! The next day we had a flight at 7am and we were on standby. All fourteen of us had to wait to find out if we can make it on this flight and luckily we did! thank god! The ride back home seemed longer and I was uncomfortable. haha first class was much better.

Stretchmark #2 College Fair

There were two college fairs and the first one was when the Seniors had a field trip to a College Fair at the Civic Center. The other one was at Burton that was for our school including Metro students as well. For our field trip, we were assigned on 3 different buses according to your Last Name. I went to school and we all had to go to our 1st and 2nd period, I wanted to leave already. When we got to Traverso’s class we had to wait a little while until they let us go to the front. When we got on the bus it took us awhile to get to Civic Center, well about 20 minutes. Once we got to the college fair, there were a whole bunch of students from different schools in the San Francisco District. They served us bags of lunch. We walked in a circle going to each college that was there, getting all the information we needed. I only went to the colleges that I would be interested in applying or looking over. Most of the ones I applied to were there so It did help me a lot. We got bags to put everything in and I signed up for a couple of colleges to send information to me about there school. The other college fair at school wasn’t much, it was the exact same thing just in the gym and I didn’t really stay long because it was during Lunch break.

Entry #16 Bad News

So this week was spirit week and I was excited to dress up to whatever we had to dress ourselves in to. Monday; Pajama Day, Tuesday; Twin Day, Wednesday; Sports Day, Thursday; Cultural Day and Friday; Dress to impress. Well this week I only got up to Tuesday. But what I remember during class was Monday, where we were all in pajamas but many weren’t very spirited but I was comfy. We were given a prompt on a half sheet of paper that had 3 questions we had to choose from to write about in our essays on Butterflies. I chose number 3 which was “Choose ONE sister and discuss what motivates her to join the revolution. What impact did this sister play in the liberation of the Dominican Republic?” I thought it was one of the easiest because I can talk about how Minerva and what motivated her to join the revolution. Tuesday I got into some trouble that led me to 5 days suspension. I was so disappointed in myself even though it shouldn’t have led that far or my fault. I missed a lot of work during the days I haven’t been at school but hopefully I get back on track once I’m back

Entry #15 Diary

On monday, we did a worksheet where we had to write a diary in Minerva’s perspective on how she felt about the situation from what we read from Mate’s Diary. We would have to write in her tone of voice and write and say things the way she did. Thursday we had a substitute, I forgot why she was out but that day a girl from the Pearson Learning Center came in to give us a survey on how it helps us. Last year in art class I remember going there because they let us borrow cell phones to let us take pictures on sculptures. It was pretty cool but I didn’t learn enough in the Pearson Learning Center wishing I can learn more with technology. But doing the podcast wasn’t bad it actually helped us a lot with our personal statements. Another thing we did while the sub was there was a worksheet on There, Theirs and They’re. It was pretty easy until we had to fill in the blanks, but overall I finished all my work. On friday we did two quote analysis and talked about the Butterflies book. We’re finally almost done with it and can’t wait until we are.

Entry #14 Thanksgiving Break!

This whole break all I basically did was MOVE IN to my new house which is my sisters in Daly City. We moved out the house that I’ve been living in my whole life, literally. It was sad but I was kind of excited to be in a new house. Anyways, Wednesday all I did was stay at home and cleaned around the house. Got some of my things together that were already at the new house. Thursday was Thanksgiving that I was looking forward to because of all that food and because my FAMILY was coming over. We had it at our house and family from vallejo came down. We had a lot of food such as corn, turkey, ham, roast beef, pasta etc. I was so full. We took a lot of pictures and ended the night with one big family photo. On friday, I went back to the old house and we cleared EVERYTHING out the house. I didn’t have all my things yet so that was the day I got everything packed and ready to go. I was literally cleaning from 1pm until we brought the UHAUL to the new house. It was tiring just being me, my sister and uncle doing all the work. On Saturday I had to cheer for the Basketball game that the boys had against Leadership. It was really fun because the game was intense, we went overtime too! The scored was 72-61 and we took it home! Afterwards I went to my friend Amerie’s cotillion with Jenn. We stayed until it was over which was at 11. Sunday I woke up really early because I was going to vallejo to go paintballing with all my cousins. When we got there we went around 11am and we started a game right away. It was really fun but I got two BIG bruises, on my thigh and on my arm. It was all worth it though. Overall my break was pretty fun!

Stretch Mark #1 Macy’s Passport

I was excited for this day! Macy’s Passport is a runway show where models dress in Calvin Klein and all the other brands Macy’s have. I remember once I got the permission slip I filled it out quick so I was able to turn it in on time. The first day it had to be turned in, everyone was there before school and we all walked to Mr. Schwartz room to turn it in. That day was one of my Bestfriends Birthday, Jennifer. The day before I had to find a dress to wear because we had to dress formal and I had nothing at all. But I found a cute dress to wear. That morning I went to safeway to buy Jenn balloons for her birthday. We all walked in her 1st period and started singing happy birthday. We all went to our classes and it was a early release. So we had a lot of time before we had to be back at the school. I went home with Jen and Alexa to get ready then came back to school around 3. We were all assigned on buses by last name. When we got there all different schools were there! I saw people I haven’t seen in so long. Before the runway started there were activities all around that we had to do in order to get a prize. Everytime you played a game they would give you paper dollars so you can buy prizes with it at the end. 94.9 was playing there, it was pretty cool. There was a picture booth there and Jen & I took a picture, it was free too. It turned out so nice and the line was pretty long, it was worth it though. Around 5 or 6 the runway show started and there were seats for all the different schools. Of course I had to be in the front seat (= I never been to a runway so I took so many pictures! The guys were all so cute haha. But overall it was fun and I’m glad Jen got to celebrate her birthday at Macy’s Passport. It was a fun experience with all the SENIORS!

Entry #13

This week Ms. Traverso was gone tuesday and wednesday. Well it didn’t really matter if she was here tuesday because we don’t have her class that day anyways. On Block day we had a sub, I had him before my sophomore year and I remember all he did was read this book and preached about it the whole period. This time he had us watch a movie “7 Seconds”. I was wondering why we didn’t have any work to do because I know 3rd period had to do a poster the day before when they had a sub. So I thought we had to do the same, Brenda and I decided that we should do the poster as well in case we had to do it again. We looked at the examples and we did Trujillo. Jessen was also in our group helping us draw. It was pretty easy and we finished by the time the bell rang. The next day we found out we had to do it all over again because we didn’t know we were assigned characters. I didn’t really mind doing it again though, this time I was in a group with Symone, Andrew and Stanley. We were given Mama which was pretty hard, but eventually we found all the quotes and information. Friday we had to present all our posters and we all were given different people. They were all similar because we had to follow the worksheet. That was pretty much that happened this week! I’m ready for our thanksgiving break this week! (=
